Since mid-December 2023, my built PC from July 2023 has been experiencing these recurring stuttering freezes lasting 5 to 8 minutes. During these periods, the system runs very slowly, every two seconds, and the audio also slows down. Once the freezing ends, the RGB indicators on my keyboard, mouse, and RAM lights up even though they are turned off by default. Eventually, the WiFi driver disappears completely until I restart the computer.

These interruptions occur approximately once every three sessions. There are days without any problems at all. On other occasions, especially when using MS Edge or playing games, the system freezes abruptly.

I have attempted various troubleshooting steps: running diagnostics on my GPU and CPU, re-seating the GPU and RAM sticks, updating BIOS settings, using default BIOS and RAM configurations (4800MHz instead of 5200Mhz), and even ran MemTest on the memory. No issues were detected.

The latest fix I tried after the most recent freeze was updating my WiFi and Ethernet drivers. I also cleared the MS Edge cache and disabled hardware acceleration. Other possible solutions include:
- If the problem is related to AMD software, I could wait for a patch or revert to the Adrenalin Software from December.
- Installing an anti-virus program in case malware is involved.
- Checking CPU pins for damage; this process was quite intensive (thermal paste application, securing hooks).

In worst-case scenarios, if all else fails and the issue persists for months, I might have to reinstall Windows or purchase new hardware.

Some people mention that CPUs or GPUs can have temperature-related problems. I’m unsure how to report temperatures accurately, as they seem to spike even when there’s no apparent issue between July and November.

If anyone has encountered similar issues or solutions, your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Motherboard: MSI PRO X670 P WiFi

updating my BIOS
For the sake of relevance, what BIOS version are you on at this moment of time? Did you clear the CMOS after you'd verified that the BIOS was successfully updated?
See if you can find another memory kit to drop onto your platform.
As for your drivers, source the drivers for your audio from MSI's support site(for the motherboard). Source the chipset and GPU drivers from AMD's support site. Use DDU to remove all GPU(Intel, Nvidia and AMD) drivers and Realtek drivers). Install all drivers in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.
Where did you source the installer for the OS? You're advised to install the OS in offline mode.

Thanks, Lutfij. The system didn't freeze yesterday after updating the WiFi and Ethernet drivers, though it might happen again today or tomorrow (this seems to occur with about one in three PC sessions).

Regarding BIOS, it's currently 7D67v1E9 (beta version). Previously it was 7D67v1A, but both had freezing problems. I haven't cleared CMOS yet and plan to do so on weekends after work.

For memory kits, I don’t have any other options. If needed, I might need to order another set. For drivers, I use all from the MSI website: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-X670...ort#driver. I’ll also try using DDU for RealTek drivers if freezes return and remember to run as admin.

For the operating system, I downloaded the Windows 11 ISO from MS directly onto my old PC and installed it on the new one. It seems I had to install it offline since I couldn’t connect to the apartment Wi-Fi.

The problem was resolved once I changed my connection method.
Two weeks later, no more freezing occurred.
I realized the mistake when I decided to plug the PC directly into the wall instead of using the Surge Protector.
That decision happened in December after an unrelated issue, and without much consideration.
It turned out the wrong setup caused voltage problems that led to freezes.
