Last night evening I shared a screenshot of Overwatch on Discord with a few friends. Suddenly my whole PC stopped working except the power light on the case that kept blinking. It wasn’t a specific flashing sequence, just a steady on and off. Assuming the system was stuck in some kind of state, I pressed the power button to try shutting it down. It tried to boot while I held it, but kept pressing anyway. Now the PC starts up normally and I haven’t had this problem before, though I’m still worried. In Windows Event Viewer there were no odd entries except a generic shutdown error. The build dates around May 2017, with a case from Corsair, a motherboard from MSI, a Ryzen 7 1800X CPU, GeForce 1660ti GPU, and a PSU from Corsair CX600. Peripherals included a Logitech mouse/keyboard, webcam, Focusrite Scarlett, headphones, Switch Pro controller, and an Elgato device. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Temperature throttling is configured to restart the PC to prevent overheating. What are your current temperatures? Also, your setup uses a 600W PSU, and PC Pickers typically don’t track peak watt usage but rather idle power consumption. Peak consumption is about twice the idle rate.
The PC didn't restart, possibly entering sleep mode without triggering any event logs. Temperatures are around 31-41°C for the CPU and 38°C for the GPU, with room temperature at 19.4°C. The PSU capacity seems adequate, but the product pages list idle power usage. Based on research, a 1660ti model typically draws about 10W in idle mode, while the 1800 series ranges from 50W to 65W idle. If you're using more than 600W, consider that the PSU might be insufficient or inefficient. The monitor issues under 144Hz settings are unrelated to power draw but worth noting.
