The machine starts up intermittently. When it won’t power on, only fans spin and lights for LEDs (except drive indicator) come on; drives, external gear, and peripherals stay off. All other parts remain unpowered, including the monitor, mouse, headphones, and any accessories. No error sounds from the internal speaker. Occasionally it gets stuck during booting, showing a brief start then shutting down a few times. Previously, I could force it to restart by quickly turning off and on the power button of the PSU, but now it fails consistently. If it does power up, you might see an error like “(A7) Me FW Downgrade - Request MeSpiLock Failed” followed by a system message. Sometimes after a normal start, everything freezes briefly before resolving itself or requiring a full restart. The system is around ten years old. I replaced the motherboard and updated the BIOS, yet the problem persists. Windows 10 Pro (formerly from modified Windows 11) on an ASRock H81M-VG4 board with 2x4GB RAM, Intel Core i5-4460, GTX 960 GPU, 1TB Seagate drive, 256GB SSD, and a 500W PSU. You may need to install the newest stable BIOS or reinstall the BIOS and flash files.

The problem remains consistent across two distinct motherboards, yet the one currently in use has the most recent BIOS update. This shouldn’t be the case.
