I'm assembling a new machine for a client and chose a 500W EVGA GD PSU because it offered ample power without breaking the budget. Unfortunately, the 500GD model was unavailable, but the 600GD was an alternative and I opted for that one. The system's performance exceeds even the lower-power unit, yet I aimed for a solid PSU to support all components. Specifications: CPU i3 13100, RAM TeamGroup Elite 2x16GB DDR5 5600 (base JDEC), Mobo Gigabyte H610M S2H (BIOS F2 → F4), PSU EVGA 600GD (previously owned), SSD 1TB Crucial P3 Plus, case Fractal Design 1000C ODD (ASUS DVD-RW requested by customer), OS Windows 11 Pro. As discussed, the setup doesn’t boot with the initially ordered 600GD nor the replacement one. It functions well with other PSUs like the 500W 100-W1-0500, 2022 Corsair RM1000x, and Antec Earth Watt 380W. I attempted a BIOS update but suspect the 600GD may have power stability issues—possibly causing voltage or current protection faults. Could be a hardware fault or firmware quirk. I’m considering swapping the motherboard instead, as a B660 is only slightly pricier than the H610.

You're certain the 600GD isn't defective? It could be an entire group of units, and you received a replacement from the same lot.

It could be the issue lies with the batch. Luckily the customer isn’t in a hurry to receive the PC, so I’ll start by swapping one of the EVGA 500w PSUs that I ordered in stock. We hoped the problem would resolve before next week, but early next week still seems reasonable.

Testing one of the EVGA 600GD on an older workbench PC worked smoothly. It booted and ran without issues using the PSU. The system features a Pentium G620, 8GB DDR3 memory, 500GB WD Blue SSD, and an ASUS P6H67-M motherboard.

That’s unusual, right? Did you use the same connectors as before when you checked with the i3? 24-pin, 8-pin, and SATA?

Only two cables are present: the EPS 8 Pin and the ATX 24 Pin. There are no SATA or PCIe connections, and the power supply unit is not modular.
