PC setup issues on fixed own machine Not launching the build environment
Hi, I'm assisting a friend with his PC setup that won't boot. The parts are: mainboard N7 Z790, i9 CPU, NZXT Kraken 280 cooler, and 2x 16GB Fury RAM from Kingston Direct. After turning it on, the CPU and RAM LEDs light up, but the RAM hasn't changed. I've already replaced the RAM and disassembled everything, checking the CPU and cables. The mainboard and cooler are still working, though the pump noise is present. Since the original build was made by the friend, I'm unsure what might have gone wrong during assembly. Could be the CPU or cooler issue, or something else? Thanks for your help!
Cooler won't stop the boot, you can work without one… but it will crash in under a minute. The signs suggest the CPU is bad, but would you try using another compatible one? I'm not even sure the board is functioning properly, especially since it was returned with only a vague explanation.
I can't directly access or modify your system's BIOS settings. Please consult your motherboard's manual or manufacturer guidelines for instructions.
Hello, thank you for your assistance and ideas. At the moment there isn't a CPU available to verify if this could be the issue. Updating the motherboard should require a properly functioning CPU, so perhaps purchasing the most affordable compatible one would be a good approach.
Update: Seller returned the motherboard and bought another one (MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI). After setting up CPU, RAM, and cables, the system still wouldn’t boot. This time the DRAM LED lit up. Changing the RAM dimensions didn’t help either. I’m considering other potential issues now. Is there a problem with the CPU? Could the PSU not handle the CPU because of the click sound after checking the CPU? The BIOS isn’t the latest and seems to be causing the problems on this new board? Anything missing? Thanks a lot for your help.
I located the fix for everything. Because the memory required significant power, I took apart the whole system and noticed a missing connector on the motherboard. Plugging it in resolved all issues – now everything functions properly. Would have saved a lot of time if I hadn’t done this.
