I'm dealing with a puzzling technical problem that has left me quite perplexed. My computer frequently restarts itself after launching Chrome or VLC, without any BSOD and within roughly a minute. It only happens with these two programs, while I can use other applications like games, stress tests, and benchmarks without issues. The system operates smoothly otherwise. If I switch to Chrome or VLC, the reboot occurs instantly or within about an hour, but still without any errors or crash reports. This behavior continues even after reformatting the OS, installing fresh Windows versions, and using different drives. Additional details: Memtest completed 4 full passes with no failures (about 8 hours of testing). CPU tests with OCCT, Prime95, and extended sessions ran well. Temperatures reached around 60°C during CPU or GPU stress, but updating the BIOS didn’t resolve it. The Event Viewer logs an ID 41 event when this happens. Disabling hardware acceleration in Chrome didn’t help, and turning off XMP settings also didn’t fix the problem. I can play games like Doom Eternal for hours and watch videos without issues—only Chrome and VLC cause the abrupt shutdowns. My system draws around 550W, with graphics drivers at version 512.95, and I’m using a 1000W power supply. Storage includes a Samsung 870 drive, WD Black, and Seagate Ironwolf drives. I don’t have spare PSUs or GPUs for testing. This situation is really frustrating, and I’m running out of ideas.

I haven't used Windows 10 yet. All the software is up to date. I haven't tested lowering the system to previous versions. The BIOS has been refreshed. The current build is 4201, the latest version available.
