Experiencing a strange problem where the PC fails to power on after shutdowns or sleeps, only reactivating when the PSU is turned off. I suspect power remains from the motherboard but it doesn’t wake up until the PSU switch is reset. The issue seems isolated to this power cycle behavior. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've finally fixed the issue after enabling ErP in the BIOS settings. It's been a week without any problems before, which is a big improvement. I'm facing the same problem now with almost identical hardware—5900X instead of 5800X and an EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3080 rather than Founders. I've been trying various troubleshooting steps: updating the BIOS, clearing CMOS, disabling all BIOS settings including XMP/DOCP, turning off Fast Boot and Quick Boot, checking wiring especially in the front panel, reseating RAM and GPU, moving the PSU cable to a different outlet, using the built-in Start button on the motherboard, and even trying the screwdriver-2-pin method. I experienced the same odd problem with an ASUS Crosshair VIII Dark Hero equipped with a 5950X and a 3090 RTX, running the latest BIOS. I noticed something interesting in the BIOS: there’s a setting to switch the motherboard into “Stealth mode” when it’s powered off, hibernated, or sleeping. When you turn it on after shutting it down, all mainboard lights should turn off. If they remain lit, the power button functions. But if the “Start” button stays on after shutdown, the power button fails and you must repeatedly switch the PSU on and off. Eventually, the “Start” light comes back on and the power button works again. This seems to be connected to how the system powers down rather than a sudden failure during shutdown. I attempted to shut it down using both Windows 10 and Linux, but both operating systems had issues with the problem.

It seems to be recurring now. Maybe I didn’t let the machine rest enough. Looks like it only occurs when the computer has been off for some time.
I suspect an issue with your 5950X and the X570 Dark Hero. After turning it off, it frequently fails to start, even though the lights stay on. I've attempted repairs without success, which is really frustrating.
I just swapped out my motherboard for a darker hero model because the previous one wasn’t working well, and I’m following the same path now.

I had a *really odd* experience this morning that made me rethink this problem. Usually I don't use Sleep, I always shut down completely. But last night I tried Sleep because I was only going to be away for a few hours. This morning when I tried to turn it on... the same thing happened. -_- I flipped the PSU power switch, waited 5 seconds, then turned it back on and pressed the case power button. It worked just like every other day over the past nine months, except this time... my PC came back on, everything was fine... but wow, the monitors were black. ...Do they sleep? Hmmm... I press a single key on my keyboard, and suddenly the screens turned on again, and all my programs were still running from when I put it to sleep! How is this possible after completely cutting power to the machine??? O_O
