I just observed this today without knowing its origin. My PC runs Microsoft resource files to a specific object whenever possible. In Task Manager, the process appears briefly and vanishes—like it was invisible. I found its location pointing to cvtres.exe at C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727. Anyone can assist in removing it.
It appears the issue resurfaces consistently. I've also switched to Safe-Mode, yet the same problem continues.
Executing three antivirus and malware checks in safe mode. Shouldn't identify the issue, I'll proceed with a Windows reinstall.
It turned out that several trojans and rootkits had been installed on my operating system. I used Malwarebytes and Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit in Safe-Mode. I intend to perform weekly scans using those tools moving forward. MSE (Defender) wasn’t enough to protect me from the issues I encountered. If your computer suddenly consumes 99% of its CPU power running a specific process, follow these steps: First, disconnect it from the internet while the process remains active, then restart in Safe-Mode. Next, download Malwarebytes and Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit from another device and install them on your isolated system. Execute the scans to eliminate threats. Also consider using CCleaner to clear cache and cookies. Finally, verify everything works properly during a normal Windows boot-up. You should be fine.
