PC powers up without any sound or visual indicators, while the CPU indicator lights up.
Hello, two weeks ago after a power outage, I tried to power on my PC but didn’t hear any beep, no POST message, just the RGB LED lights on the RAM and fans turning on. The motherboard is an ASUS M5A97 EVO R 2.0, and the CPU is FX-8320. I’ve checked many forums and tried various solutions: starting without RAM, using only one module, changing the BIOS battery, shorting the motherboard pins, booting without the GPU, and even connecting via VGA. I also ordered a new motherboard, the ASUS M5A78L-M LE, and the vendor confirmed the BIOS is updated for this CPU. Despite these efforts, I’m still facing the same issues.
Do you think I should return the motherboard and try a different CPU? Could it be that both components are faulty? I’m also curious about my RAM modules, which are 4x2 CRUCIAL TACTICAL BALLISTIX. When I power on the PC, the green LED lights up but there are no animations, unlike when it was working. I’m wondering if the CPU is the problem or the motherboard.
I’d appreciate your advice on whether I should send the motherboard back or test it with a new CPU. Thank you for your patience, and feel free to share any other ideas or tests you think might help.
I purchased a PSU from Amazon, expected delivery tomorrow, and will let you know the outcome.
Could you ask why you considered another PSU? I didn’t initially think it was the issue, but I’m trying to learn how to repair PCs so it will be useful to understand.

I took out the motherboard from the case, connected the 12v mobo cable and the 4-pin CPU cable. I also tried using an HDD and one bank of RAM.
I attached a fan to the CPU to prevent any issues.
