Hi dear forum.
I’m having a problem with my PC.
After turning it on for the first few minutes, it sometimes shuts down unexpectedly—once or twice, and even up to three times. Sometimes it takes a while to restart properly after powering off.
Once it works again, it performs well under heavy stress tests.
The power supply unit produces some static sounds, which I didn’t notice much at first, thinking it was coil whine. The fan starts working fine when the load increases.
Everything seems to point to the PSU, but I’m not sure. Is there a way to confirm it’s faulty without replacing it? Has anyone else had the same issue?
Here are the full specifications:
Intel Core i9 I9-12900K
CPU Cooler Noctua Nh-d15 Chromax.black Dualfan 140mm
Asus Rog Maximus Hero Z690
RAM PC Corsair Vengeance Ddr5 32gb 5200 Mhz 2x16g
ASUS ROG Nvidia Gefroce RTX 2070
Corsair MP600 PRO PCIe Gen4 2TB
Corsair MP600 PRO LPX PCIe Gen4 600GB
Western Digital WD Black SATA 6 7200RPM 4TB
PSU Corsair RM1000x

Thank you!! All tests passed, but the computer kept shutting down unpredictably. I did a detailed inspection of all connectors and found the 24-pin motherboard connector was slightly misaligned. It was difficult to spot since it was barely visible. After re-seating it, it stopped turning off again after two weeks. Thanks for your response!!!

It might be a PSU problem due to overheating.
Check using HWMonitor.
HWMonitor for Windows® x86/x64 is a hardware monitoring tool that reads PC systems' main health sensors: voltages, temperatures, powers, currents, fan speeds, usage, clock speeds, etc. It manages CPU and GPU-level hardware monitoring.
Visit www.cpuid.com.
Run it and apply stress to the PC to observe if anything unusual happens. Use available tools to check how much power the PC consumes. You can also use a PSU tester to verify all cables. The only one that doesn’t light up is the -5V output, indicating the PSU is functioning properly.
