PC powering down unexpectedly during Prime95 testing
The specs show a Ryzen 5600X paired with a Gigabyte Vision RTX 3070 cooler, a Gigabyte MWE Gold 750W PSU, and MSI B550M Wi-Fi. Running the Prime95 Small FTT test causes the PC to shut down after 40–60 minutes, reaching temperatures of 89–90°C. The shutdown lasts 30–50 minutes before powering off. It seems sustained high temps are likely the issue, but it’s unclear if the PSU or CPU is the root cause. You might verify this by underclocking and observing if the problem persists. After restarting, wait a few minutes before turning it back on.
Can we try to lower the temperature more? If it still fails at a cooler setting, it’s likely not due to overheating. You might remove the side panel, install additional fans, relocate it to a well-ventilated area or a cooler environment like a garage or outdoors if conditions are suitable.
You can check the PSU's performance by observing power delivery under different loads. Using separate cables for the PSU and GPU might affect stability, especially when under stress. The intermittent behavior suggests potential issues with heat dissipation or voltage regulation.
Right now I'm testing Furmark alone to determine if the issue is related to the GPU or just the GPU.
