PC power supply ?
Hello everyone, I'm assembling a 3 pc fan exhaust system for my bedroom window while soldering to eliminate the solder fumes. I'm using 3 coolsonic hc-010 argb 4 pin PWM PC fans and I'm attempting to power them from my PC power supply only since I don't have a gaming computer.
I purchased a molex 4 pin to 3 pc fan power adapter and an argb 5v 3 pin RGB SATA power supply fan controller. I connected them in series and the fans are working well, but the lights won't light up. Can I simply use a PC power supply to make both the fans and lights function? I was hoping this would be feasible, but I'm not certain. Also, any advice on a suitable power supply, fan hub (if needed), and fan selection would be appreciated.
Thank you very much.
There are two sets of wires available: 12v for fans and another 5v for argb lights. I own a SATA 5v 3-pin argb controller cable, a 12v 4-pin fan controller with variable voltage control, and a 12v molex 4-pin x3 fan splitter cable. My question is whether I can connect the 12v molex 4-pin x3 splitter cable directly into the PSU, then connect the three fans, and finally plug the SATA 5v 3-pin argb controller cable into the PSU to power the argb lights. Since the PSU is the only power source I have, can I run fans and lights using just the PSU?
If your ARGB controller isn't meant for PC use, it won't function properly. Some models work without a PC, offering presets and independent control.
You can also consider alternatives, though color choices may be restricted.
The specific model you're using is what I'm asking about.
