PC power on issue
My computer experiences a strange behavior when it powers on. It stays on for roughly one second, then briefly shuts off and restarts itself again within a second. This sequence has never occurred before. Once it turns back on, it functions normally without any further problems so far.
Disconnect all RAM and peripherals except the monitor (unplug hard drive cables, remove m.2). Check if it boots into BIOS. If it does, then connect the mouse and keyboard. If it still boots, add RAM (just one stick if you have more than one). If RAM fails, use another stick if available. If you reached this point, consider testing a different GPU—something low power that works would be helpful.
I don't understand the exact reason, but after taking everything out and putting it back, the problem disappeared. Now my RAM is making a faint buzzing sound, but my RAM itself isn't having issues because the tests showed no problems. I did a RAM test and everything was fine, and I checked each stick in every slot—still the same sound. Is this typical?
I've not heard of RAM making noise. Most of the time noise is related to inductors in a switching mode power supply (drawing more current implies heavier load on inductors, and inductors can vibrate due to magnetism). RAM sticks no doubt have power related content, but not inductors. Perhaps it is noise from an inductor very close to the RAM? If it is the actual RAM I wonder if something has partially separated from the board. Even so, I don't think I'd replace the RAM, but if something went wrong again, then the first thing I'd do is check the RAM via removing and using one stick at a time.
I took out the RAM, then turned on the motherboard and didn't hear any sound from the RAM slots. I put one stick of RAM in and it made a noise from the motherboard slot instead. When I tried different slots and used other RAM sticks, the same sound appeared. After fixing the power issue, my RAM slots started making a buzzing noise.
