PC performance is reduced on both Ethernet ports at the same machine.
A couple of weeks back my internet speed was increased to 200mbps (which translates to roughly 240). I checked if my PC could match that, running a speed test over Ethernet. It only reached about 150 Mbps. This issue is coming from the motherboard Realtek Ethernet adapter. I also tested with a TP-Link PCIe gigabit Ethernet card, which gave similar results. After removing the Ethernet cable from my PC and connecting it to a laptop, the speed test on the laptop matched the expected 240-250 Mbps. I’ve updated the network drivers on both the motherboard and PCIe ports. It’s puzzling that both connections are not working properly. Thanks for your help.
You receive the maximum speed available locally. On a Linux live disk, you still get the full speed as it reflects the host's capabilities.
Windows 10. On the motherboard ethernet I located the drivers on their site and executed an installer. For the TP-Link I discovered the drivers there but needed to install them via device manager.
