The computer runs continuously at full capacity during games. Temperatures remain minimal, never exceeding 78°C.

With all respect, but without coming across as rude or unkind, an i3 isn't really suited for gaming. These chips are more typical in office environments, used for tasks like word processing and browsing the internet. Even some office machines run i5 CPUs.
Your machine is fairly old, I don’t know what games you’re playing, but from the way it runs, it can’t handle them well. The CPU is limiting performance, and adding more RAM or another stick likely won’t make much difference. Honestly, it probably isn’t worth the investment.
I’d recommend considering a newer system if possible...

It varies based on the games you're running, but usually it's due to the i3 3240 being a low-end, older system. It's hitting its full potential in those titles.

I should picture it like this. That compact 2-core, 4-thread CPU is nearing its decade mark... I can only guess that even simple games are challenging it.
I’d note the single stick of RAM, but honestly, it seems better to focus on a more up-to-date build instead of squandering resources here.
