Earlier this month I moved from an i7 8700 to a Ryzen 3700X using a B450 steel legend board. After updating my BIOS, my system only managed to utilize three out of four RAM sticks. It seems the issue appears when RAM speeds exceed 2400MHz, causing immediate crashes. XMP settings don’t seem to help. On my Intel setup, I was able to push RAM up to 3000MHz without problems across all four modules. Any suggestions?

Use 2133MHz as the current frequency and check if a BIOS update is available.

Have you experimented with adjusting the RAM speed to 3200MHz and increasing the voltage to 1.3500V?

Already tried before, no success. Is 1.3500 v safe? Ram mentioned 1.2v on the side.

Are the clock speeds really flexible, such as 22-22-22-52? If it begins with anything between 14-18, it must be 1.35V. I’ve never seen DIMMs use timing better than 22. SODIMMs (for laptops) can offer improved settings because many laptops can’t operate above 1.2V, but that doesn’t apply here.

It wasn't an improvement. You could easily use that 5GHz 8700K anytime. The AMD chip with its selective memory controller was a poor choice. The only real upgrade would have been adding more RAM to your 8700K. Someone else probably pushed you toward this decision. I’d blame them. The best option would have been to hold off on the 8700K for another year.

It wasn't an improvement. You could easily use that 5GHz 8700K anytime. The AMD chip with its selective memory controller was a poor choice. The only real upgrade would have been adding more RAM to your 8700K. Someone else probably pushed you toward this decision. I’d blame them. The best option would have been to hold off on the 8700K for another year.

It wasn't a K CPU. I sold the setup to a friend and switched to Ryzen for free, just a bit more money. For my workload, it's performed better than the 8700.

Yes, I operate all my modules at 1.3500V without any problems. You might be able to increase the frequency to 3600MHz once you resolve the underlying issue.

Attempted 1.35v with 3200mhz but couldn't send data. Success at 3000mhz at the same voltage. Will continue testing to find limits.
