Hey everyone,
I'm really struggling and need some advice. I overclocked my CPU and everything worked fine for a short time—running OC tools and Prime95 without issues, then turning it off. After restarting, it didn’t boot at all and still won’t. I’ve tried resetting the CMOS by removing the battery and using the jumper, swapping RAM modules, but nothing changed. The system powers on normally with all fans and the watercooling active, yet it still won’t start.

My setup:
Asus P5Q Deluxe
Intel Q9550 2.83GHz → overclocked to 3.86GHz
2x 2gb G.skill Pi DDR2 1066
GTX760
Silver Power 600W PSU

Anyone have a clue what’s going on?
Thanks!

Did you accidentally connect the CMOS with the battery in? You should unplug the PSU before proceeding, as the battery needs to be present for the CMOS reset hold short to last at least 5 seconds. I faced the same issue yesterday, but she’s now working again.

Hello,
I encountered a similar issue when attempting to boost my FX6300 to 4.8Ghz on an MSI motherboard. It ended up that the motherboard failed, so I’m suggesting you check the PSU, motherboard, and GPU if those components aren’t functioning.
I hope this provides some guidance.
If you need further assistance or have other questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thanks,
Simon

Hey guys, i managed to POST that way: i followed what cggreen advised, used an older graphics card that needs only one 6pin, disconnected SSD, DVD, USB, and just one RAM stick in another slot—it worked! But... i put back the hardware one at a time, and it still POSTed, though once i reseated my 760, no more POST. Now I put the older graphics card back in, but it still won’t POST... Is it possible the PSU is causing the issues?

Thanks guys, i managed to POST that way: i did what cggreen told me, i put an older grphics Card that requires only one 6pin, disconnected ssd, DVD, USB and put only one Ram stick in another slot and IT WORKED! But... I put back the hardware one at a time, and it still POSTed, but once i reseated my 760, no POST anymore. So i put thé older graphics Card in back again, and it still wont POST... Is it possible it may be the PSU causing the issues?
Yes, it seems like a PSU issue here. I think that the PSU is not able to provide the amount needed for more than 1 six pin, hence there not being a post. I think that it is providing the amount that the motherboard needs, but not enough for the GPU with the CPU overclocked. May I just ask what wattage you PSU is???

Have the overclocked settings been restored to their original optimized configurations?
