PC motherboard, RAM setup, and power supply options for the i7 7820X
Hey there! So I just got a used i7 7820x for about 100 euros to upgrade my 4770K. Now I need to get a new motherboard, RAM, and maybe a PSU. Any suggestions for specific motherboard and RAM models? Will the XfX550W still perform well? And can my Cryorig H5 Ultimate handle it? Thanks!
Try to maintain the CPU and RAM costs under 350 to 400 euros whenever possible.
What capabilities were essential? Are there any limitations in space?
I'm using a Cooler Master CM690II. I'm looking for a black theme and want to confirm whether the RAM should meet a certain minimum speed for the CPU to perform optimally.
Higher speed RAM can be beneficial and remains affordable. Regarding the PSU, it seems to fit our D tier on the list, possibly allowing a replacement of that part. For the CPU, the Intel Core i7-7820X 3.6 GHz 8-core model was bought for free, along with a CRYORIG H5 76 CFM cooler also purchased at no cost. The ASRock X299 Extreme4 ATX motherboard costs €208.02 at Mindfactory, and the Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB DDR4 memory comes in at €96.90 on Amazon Deutschland. The case is a Case Cooler Master CM690 II Basic ATX Mid Tower, purchased for free. The Corsair RM 650W power supply (2019), certified 80+ Gold and fully modular, is available from Amazon Deutschland for €89.90. All prices listed include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts, bringing the total to €394.82. This data was generated by PCPartPicker on January 30, 2020 at 23:14 CET+0100.
I mainly need my GTX1080 to escape the bottleneck issue my 4770k causes in some games, like BFV. I wasn’t planning an upgrade yet, but a 100€ CPU deal felt like a must-have.
