Hello Forum, I’m looking for guidance on choosing a motherboard. My employer was considering replacing the i9 9900k with a solid build and ended up deciding to upgrade. I’m thinking about getting the Corsair CMU64GX4M4C15 with four 16GB RAM sticks at 3000 MHz, plus an RTX 3070 graphics card. I also have a large compatible liquid cooler and a 850W power supply. I just need something that fits everything and has more than one M.2 NVMe slot. Thanks, Patrick.
It would be simple to sell it again. The boards are extremely expensive, so unless you locate a good z370/390 under $100, you should skip the resale.

Yup, Z390 came with the 9900K, which means the early BIOS should work fine. Edit: Still, it’s usually wise to keep the 9900K in new condition. You can fetch a solid deal for it. After that, you can upgrade to a CPU that fits your current board—something better and cheaper than the 9900K, saving you money. Think of it like moving from a 5600X to a newer model.
Beyond price considerations, I believe selling the 9900k first and then your 3600 would be simpler, and you could add a 5800X to your current setup. Check the mobile BIOS page on Asus’s website—it should show which CPU models are compatible with the BIOS versions. I think the Z390 was launched around the same time as the Coffee Lake refresh CPUs (9th generation), so they should fit together smoothly without requiring major upgrades beforehand. That’s why I suggest skipping the Z370, which came out earlier and would complicate things with outdated BIOS support.
