Hello, I recently installed a new computer and encountered an issue that only happens while gaming. The system would crash, either the game would terminate abruptly or the screen would go black, with fans and RGB lights still active before the whole machine restarts. Games like Red Dead 2 and Doom (2016) crashed, but Doom Eternal worked fine at Ultra settings. I’ve tried basic troubleshooting—updated drivers, ran MemTest, checked temperatures—but nothing resolved it. I also performed a CPU stress test via OCCT, which reported over 1,000 errors on core 1 and logical core 2. I’m puzzled, possibly due to XMP being enabled. It feels like a hardware problem might be at play. This is my first computer in about 15 years, so it’s really frustrating. If you have any advice or need crash dumps from the Event History log, please let me know. I’m using Windows 11 Home 64-bit, with an AMD 7600X processor, Thermalright cooler, and an Asrock B650m Pro RS motherboard. Graphics are Radeon RX 6950 XFX Speedster Merc 319, paired with a G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5 32GB RAM. The SSD is Kingston KC3000 M.2 NVMe Gen 4, and the case is Montech 95 King Pro. Other peripherals include a Ducky One 2 mini RGB and an old Steelseries mouse.

Sure, disable XMP and observe the outcome.

Provide the screenshot of the Windows Event Viewer and display the CPU temperatures. Consider possible causes like PSU problems or installation issues. Ask about the motherboard debug indicators and codes.

The issue persists even when XMP is enabled. Would you like temperature readings during gameplay? I’ll share the Event Viewer images, the debug LED codes I’ve found, and explain how to proceed.

Only debug LEDs and Q-codes appear when the PC fails to start. They indicate the stage of Power On Self Test the system is currently in. These aren't traditional error lights but show which testing phase is active. Once you reach BIOS and Windows, a successful POST means it's irrelevant. The kernel event ID 41 suggests the machine shut down without using the shutdown option in Windows—unless you're unsure about that. A dump file pointing to DirectX usually points to a GPU issue. Your symptoms of a black screen and game crashes align with GPU problems. Did you install the operating system cleanly on this PC? If not, a faulty GPU is likely the cause.

The setup was clean and the download via Wi-Fi worked fine on USB. It seems unusual that Doom Eternal launched without issues.

Are there any performance enhancements installed on the processor or graphics card? They might be causing instability.

You completed the OCCT CPU benchmark and observed 8,000 errors in just two minutes when XMP was disabled.
