Two days ago an unusual issue began appearing. Occasionally my PC loses its internet connection (wired) and it fails to reconnect until I restart the system. Other devices on the network remain connected. The situation becomes more complicated: during these drops, when I reboot or power off the PC, it shuts down completely, turning off monitors and peripherals, yet the system never fully powers down. Fans and lights stay active. I can only escape this state by pressing the power button or using the PSU switch to shut it off. If I turn off my PC before a drop, it powers down normally. A malware scan was performed, but beyond that I’m unsure how to fix the problem. It’s frustrating because the issue can appear suddenly or after just a few minutes. I haven’t noticed any recent Windows updates and didn’t engage in suspicious downloads that might carry malware.

I examine Resource Monitor for unusual TCP connections. I’ve uncovered some odd activity that previous virus checks overlooked. Are you using Windows 11 and does your motherboard support an Intel 2.5Gb NIC?

The RAM issue seemed promising. I tested Memtest86 and discovered one of my four sticks was generating errors. Luckily, the G.SKILL Trident Z also showed problems. This is the third time a G.SKILL memory kit has failed in the past six months. I don’t know the exact NIC model, but it only has a 1 Gb port. I’m using the latest stable Windows 11 version. Resource monitors aren’t showing any high usage or network activity. I’ll check if the faulty stick caused the problem and will follow up accordingly. Thanks!

But is it B-die? I was told they never break, but good luck—dodgy RAM can definitely cause issues. My model was Corsair "Vengeance."

Check if it uses Samsung B-die by looking at the product details or warranty info. This kit comes with a lifetime warranty and has been replaced multiple times before, which is unusual. You might want to contact the manufacturer for confirmation.

The model code is embedded on each stick or kit. Enter your number and they’ll confirm it. Also, timing details often indicate the condition—my setup is 14-14-14-34, which usually signals a failure, while others show different codes like 14-16-18-36.

It seems your RAM is still functioning, but the fact that you have three faulty kits in six months is quite concerning.

It seems the defective RAM was the cause of the problem. I haven't experienced this issue since replacing the faulty component.
