PCPartPicker list of components with cost details by seller. CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core ($279 at CPL Online). Motherboard: MSI Z97 PC MATE ATX LGA1150 ($130 at Centre Com). Overall total comes to $409. Prices cover shipping, taxes, and any available discounts. Created by PCPartPicker on 2014-11-18 21:27 EST+1100. It's a possibility but a bit pricey, yes.

It's a decent choice, but for half the cost I could get an 8350. I'm just wondering if it's worth paying double for a better GPU and CPU.

Avoid selecting 8350 for a 970 motherboard. It's strongly advised to choose 990FX instead.

It's unclear what you're asking about. Could you provide more context or clarify your question?

The OC needs to deliver strong performance at I5, yet the available chipsets and 970 boards often lack sufficient power for effective overclocking on the 8350.

It’s probably better to gather the information first. (For the 8350 model, you’ll need a 990x RAM?)
