PC lacks power to the graphics card, causing black display.
I have an HP Pavilion 500-500C with a Memphis motherboard. My friend recently gave me his old MSI GTX 670 to install in my PC, and I purchased a used Corsair VX 550 power supply. After setting everything up, the new GPU and PSU are working, but my monitor shows no signal. I've tried a new monitor, both HDMI and VGA cables, updated the BIOS, installed drivers before installing the new GPU. I suspect the power supply might not be the problem since it worked fine with my old graphics card, but I'm worried about damaged PCIe cables. The fans on the GPU are spinning even when they shouldn't, and I'm not sure what to do next.
What was your previous card and does it function on your friend's system?
The 670 is functioning properly on my friend's PC. He verified it before sending it to me.
My old card is a GT705 and the 670 worked on my friend's PC before he handed it to me. I'm not sure if it got damaged during shipping.
