PC issues during audio cutting and Discord sharing. Freezing screen reported. What’s causing this problem?
I’m experiencing some unusual problems with my audio cutting in and out lately. It mainly happens when I attempt screen sharing on Discord or while using Photoshop while listening to Spotify. I’ve tried numerous solutions, but nothing seems to help. Another issue is that whenever I encounter the Discord audio glitch, my mouse freezes, voices cut off, and sometimes the whole PC freezes (task manager won’t open). This problem appears to come and go after reboots.
Here are my computer details:
- CPU: Ryzen 9 3950X
- GPU: RTX 3080 Founders Edition
- RAM: Corsair LPX 64GB (two 32GB at 3200Mhz)
- Motherboard: Asus B550-i Gaming Case
- Power Supply: EVGA G1+ 850W
- Additional gear: two 4K monitors, one 1080P 240Hz monitor
- Accessories: Elgato Streamdeck XL GOXLR, XLR mic, Steelseries Arctis Pro (plugged into GOXLR), wireless mouse with charging pad
I’ve tested many fixes so far—hardware reinstalls, driver updates, different network settings, new drivers, and even removed non-essential programs. I also tried using a gaming headset alone, changing the motherboard, adjusting latency, lowering 4K resolution, and underclocking the GPU.
I haven’t tried swapping the GPU or CPU, but I’m open to suggestions.
Other things I haven’t done:
- Swapped GPU (disappointed)
- Swapped CPU (uncertain if that’s the cause)
- Replaced XLR mic
- Used only Discord, Spotify, and Photoshop for testing
