Hey everyone, I've been searching online to find similar problems and haven't found much useful info. I believe I’ve pinpointed the issue to be related to my CPU, though I’m still unsure why it might be failing. For reference, I own an i5-9600k that’s been overclocked to 4.7ghz (about 0.1 above its base). It runs with a Coolermaster Master Liquid 120, four 8GB Corsair Vengeance C16 RAM sticks at 3200MHz, a Gigabyte Aorus Z390 Pro Wi-Fi, Windows 11 Pro, and an EVA RTX 2080 Ti from a friend. Initially, everything worked perfectly until I noticed my PC no longer recognized the TPM 2.0 chip on my motherboard. Windows stopped sending updates, which made things worse. Eventually, I tried turning off CSM, enabling Secure Boot, and following some steps, but nothing fixed it. I went to Gigabyte’s site and discovered my BIOS was outdated. Updating from F11 to F12 seemed to help until the system would boot into Windows but then freeze, showing a black screen after a fake success. The MoBo VGA light turned red, so I unplugged everything, swapped the RX 2070 back in, and only connected the RX 2080 Ti, which also didn’t work. I checked all my PCIe slots with both GPUs, tried using onboard graphics, and even changed cables or swapped RAM sticks without any improvement. I even bought a new used MoBo that matched my previous setup but still had the same problem. Now I’m wondering if the BIOS update affected my CPU or if there’s something else I overlooked. Also, I double-checked all my cables to ensure they were secure and not damaged.

Have you reset your CMOS? It’s advised to do so after updating your BIOS. Additionally, if you’re running a Z390 motherboard (based on the 9600k speed), you might need to replace the CMOS battery entirely. There’s a low chance you damaged your CPU during a BIOS update.

I cleared the CMOS, but I didn’t try anything else that turned out to work. Reformatting the boot SSD helped the machine start up in Windows, though I’m not sure why. Thanks for your response!
