Hello everyone,
I’m still getting familiar with the tech world, but I’ve noticed my PC is acting slower than expected. The games I’ve tried seem to stutter and freeze. Using Fraps, the FPS is over 100, yet it feels like only about 30. Even older titles, such as Hitman Absolution, lag in certain areas or when effects are heavy. Please feel free to share any suggestions or questions—I’ll do my best to help. I’m eager to play games without worries.

My setup is:
CPU: Intel Core i5-10400F 2.90GHz
RAM: 16GB DDR4
GPU: RTX 3060 12GB
SSD: NVME: M.2: Kingston SNV2S500G 500GB
OS: Windows 11 Home 22H2
Motherboard: Prime H510M-K version 2402

Let me know if you need anything else. Thank you!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! Please note the make and model of your PSU, as well as the age of the device and whether it was used before the RTX3060 mentioned earlier. OS: Windows 11 Home 22H2. We're currently on 23H2, and your system is awaiting an update. Check the Device Manager for any entries marked with a yellow exclamation mark. After that, attempt reinstalling your chipset drivers to see if it resolves the problem.

Thank you for the friendly greeting. My PSU is ZUS700 - 700W and 3060, which is the sole GPU ever used with it. Both are six months old. The Device Manager isn't displaying any warnings. Chipset drivers were refreshed using Armoury Crate.

Are you sure XMP is turned on for your RAM in the BIOS? Have you looked at the temperatures?

Hello mate. I tested XMP both on and off, but it didn’t make a difference. It stays around 70 when gaming, and idle temps are fine too. I just applied new thermal paste to the CPU a few days back. Could something be affecting the BIOS settings? I’m not sure what’s correct or wrong.

Given the board's limited VRM and absence of a heatsink, it's possible thermal throttling might occur, leading to reduced clock speed.

Check Task Manager and Resource Monitor to understand system activity, what it does or doesn’t do, and what it’s attempting. Use each tool individually but only one at a time. Compare performance during slow and fast periods, such as in non-smokey vs smokey gaming settings or other scenarios with varying effects. The goal is to identify which resources are being consumed, by which processes, and how much. Keep the tool window open for observation. It may take some time and effort to pinpoint issues. Take your time and watch attentively. Avoid rushing to conclusions or reacting immediately.

I ran Intel’s app to simulate stress on the CPU and verify thermal throttling, and it showed no issues.

I’ll handle it first thing tomorrow and will inform you about the findings. Might the voltages be incorrect or could there be issues with the BIOS CPU configuration?

These conditions wouldn't necessarily appear in either tool. Still, a voltage problem might harm the GPU, or other parts like the CPU.
