PC is experiencing instability after upgrading CPU and RAM.
Hello everyone, I recently upgraded my system from a 7600X to a 9800X3D and changed the RAM to DDR5 32GB at 6000MHz CL28. Since then, my PC has been experiencing frequent crashes lasting 2-3 days. The monitors lose signal and all fans run at full speed. This occurred during idle periods, once while launching CS2 and a map, and again after I powered down the machine. This time, the fans didn’t reach Boeing mode. Despite knowing how components fit together, I’m puzzled by this issue. It hasn’t happened before in the past two years with previous hardware. Once it crashed, some program settings reset to defaults, and the CS2 configuration displayed strange visuals like a red HUD and altered crosshair. All settings I’ve used never looked this way. My specs are: Win11 64bit, AMD 9800X3D Peerless Assassin, 120 SE ZOTAC, RTX 4070 Ti, Extreme AIRO, 32GB G.Skill DDR5 @6000MHz & CL28 (DOCP 1), Samsung 980 Pro 2TB, ASUS B650E-F Gaming, latest BIOS. Please help clarify this, I really appreciate your support. -Michael PS: CPU and GPU temperatures remain stable.
I might consider repositioning the CPU within the socket, possibly due to uneven pin contact. Switching to the previous RAM could also be an option, as it's improbable to be the cause, though since it was one of the two modifications, a faulty setup remains a chance. Good luck!
Have a faulty memory controller? Consider resetting your RAM to its standard or non-EXPO settings and see if the issue continues.
Hello everyone, those adjustments didn't succeed – but I identified the issue. The sticks should operate at 1.40V with the D.O.C.P. 1 setting, yet the ASUS board shows 1.44V under that profile. This caused instability. I adjusted the following parameters to bring the system stable and maintain high latency performance. Memory VDD Voltage changed from 1.44V to 1.35V, MC Voltage from 1.44V to 1.35V, and I gradually increased them while keeping the CL28 profile at high frequencies. Initially, I planned to revert to 1.40V as intended by the OEM, but since the RAM is functioning well and the PC remains stable, I stuck with these settings.
