Hi!
Here are my PC specifications:
MBD: ASUS B650E-E
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7800X3D
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12A
GPU: GigaByte 4080 Aero
RAM: Kingston Fury Beast 32GB DDR5 6000
PSU: be quiet! STRAIGHT P 11 PLAT. 850W
Recently, my PC began freezing during games about a week ago. I haven’t updated any drivers recently. While playing Rocket League, after roughly 15 to 30 minutes the game would freeze briefly and worsen with continued play. It also appears to disconnect my controller. When the game restarts, the controller doesn’t respond for a few seconds.

Playing Elden Ring caused similar issues: freezes occurred again, and only analog stick inputs were registered after the controller.

I performed a full system reinstall with all drivers updated and BIOS refreshed, but the problem persists. Yesterday I kept playing until long freezes occurred, at which point the game crashed immediately without any bluescreen.

It seems there might be faulty hardware. I ran a Windows RAM check and found no errors. The crash showed a 0xc0000005 error, and the first screenshot displayed a CPU usage spike during the moment of freeze. Temperatures were normal.

Additional symptoms include: the right RAM slot sometimes stays static blue after startup (only now), and some audio noise linked to frame rate. It appears this is more noticeable at higher FPS. I’m unsure if it’s coil whine from the speakers.

Do you have any suggestions or tests you could run? Which component should I check first?
Thanks!

1. Access 'Services', turn off the 'GameInput' service, restart, and then attempt the problematic game.
2. Enter 'Safe Mode with Networking' and check if the game launches successfully. Please share the results.

Hi creojx, have you tried the suggestions? If yes, did either of them help? It could assist others facing similar problems. Cheers

Check if additional programs beyond games experience freezing or crashes, including built-in Windows apps and other installed software.

Only using games (tried 3 different ones). Games run super smooth for about 20-30 minutes before things start to lag. So far there have been no freezes or crashes with anything else—just browser web or streaming.

Edit:
I also ran some stress tests with Prime95 for around 30 minutes. CPU and RAM showed no errors, and temperatures stayed within normal ranges.

Later I’ll check the GPU with Furmark. If that doesn’t reveal anything, what should I replace first?

I think the PSU or motherboard might be the issue.

My first impression is that no BSOD appears to have been created; if it were related to the CPU, motherboard, or RAM, I would expect at least one to show up with these problems. Considering the performance decline over time, overheating seems like a likely cause. I should check the temperatures using different monitoring tools (like HW Monitor) and confirm that nothing is becoming excessively hot during gaming.

74c fo the chipset seems a bit much as well. Its within tolerances, just kind of high. Have you tried limiting the power limit for the graphics card to 80% of normal? This will reduce FPS by a few % but can also lessen the stress on the power delivery for the GPU. This is a decent test for a few different issues.
If it were the PSU you would be getting black screen shutdowns, not freezes. Motherboards are usually a diagnosis of exclusion because there is no direct way to test the motherboad specifically unless you know that everything that is connected to it is in working order.

The graphics card is an important factor to consider, especially when it comes to gaming issues. It's essential to think about the GPU in this context. Do you have another card you could replace to test? It might be worth looking into and trying. CPU problems would typically cause issues across different applications, except when gaming and heat is involved.

That was quite unexpected for me as well. So far I've only checked temperatures using the armoury crate. I plan to try again with HW Monitor or Info—these tools seem a bit too complex for me.
How about checking for overheating in the PSU? Is that something you can monitor?

I’ll keep an eye on the chipset temperature today.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any spare parts right now.
Rocket League isn’t a GPU-heavy game at all—it runs smoothly even when idle. That’s why the GPU doesn’t stand out to me.
I did a benchmark test yesterday for 20 minutes without noticing anything unusual and everything ran smoothly.
I just ordered a Corsair RM1000x and a Kingston Renegade 6000 CL32; I can return them if they don’t help.
I’ll let you know next time.
Thanks a lot for your advice so far!
