Ryzen 5 5500 with 16GB DDR4
RTX 4060 ROG STRIX
ASUS Prime b550k
Corsair HX1000w
Recent issues: My computer frequently shuts down during gaming. CPU and GPU temperatures are normal, not overheating. I've tried reseating the GPU and RAM, but no CPU issues. I removed the cooler and thermal paste, replaced major power cords and the wall connector.

Getting close to 15 years old, yet hasn't been used for roughly a decade.

Interesting question. Do you have an extra power supply unit available for testing? This could help determine if the PSU is the issue.
Fun fact: PSUs gradually wear down even when not in use, with a minor decline in the capacitors and other components that make up the unit.

Don’t have any backup PSUs, but there’s a strong chance it’s the one I can purchase to test.

If possible, you could purchase a replacement PSU, but if you remain unsure whether it's the correct one, you can have it inspected at a nearby store at a low cost (or not at all) for verification.

Even if that PSU were functioning perfectly (and it's unlikely to be), you should still consider replacing it. The warranty is probably already over, so if it fails and causes damage to your expensive new parts, you'd be in a tough spot.

It’s understandable to consider swapping it out, even though it was built to last a decade.
