Everyone assumes people who play video games are all alike. You’re into Plague Inc? Want to wipe the planet? You’re into GTA V? Want to wreck the beach at 100MPH? Oh, Minecraft? Sounds like you’re too young. But when it comes to movies, nobody cares. What about those kids who tried to start a purge or those fans of their favorite WWE wrestler? They probably have personal issues. When it’s a movie, they’re dealing with real problems. Playing games means every gamer is a potential threat.

This relates to PC gaming and stereotypes, but the discussion about games promoting violence is extensive. People who understand are taking it seriously.

This situation has been ongoing for a long time. The article highlights how it continues unabated. Responsibility tends to shift, with others pointing the finger instead of acknowledging personal accountability.

They attempted to remove this content in Germany too, but it didn’t matter. I can just roll my eyes at this. Oh, a violent game for adults—labeling it 18+ isn’t suitable for a 10-year-old? How could I believe that? It’s ridiculous. Do these people allow kids to watch porn or violent films? No, so why do they think games are safe? Because they’re just small-minded fools. And I can’t take them seriously.

Many individuals tend to generalize about entire groups, creating a sense of superiority over others. It's true that perspectives can vary, but this often leads to assumptions about different communities. Most of the time, this happens without realizing it.

It's common to see me as a gamer on campus; that stereotype really sticks.
