PC functions solely when RAM is present in slot 3
I recently purchased a PC, bought the components, and my brother assisted with the installation. He isn’t an expert in PCs, but he understands enough to know why the system only works with one RAM stick. When I inserted them into slots 1 and 3, no display appeared, as well as slots 2 and 4. If anyone can assist, it would be a huge help. My machine has the MS-7A12 processor i5-6600K, a GEFORCE GTX 1060 graphics card.
Have you tested each stick individually, one at a time, in one position at a time? Have you considered repositioning the CPU? You’ll need additional thermal paste, and be extra careful not to damage the pins in the socket!
Needfuldoer has a point; repositioning the CPU might assist. Before that, try these steps to verify RAM functionality: insert each stick individually and observe if it powers on. If it does, the RAM appears operational. Then consult the motherboard manual to confirm the correct slot placement for your specific RAM model. If the computer still won’t boot after following the instructions, it may indicate a faulty motherboard (assuming RAM is fully functional).
