PC friends began malfunctioning once Windows was turned on.
I've been working on this problem with them for a while, but they're using a 4090 with a 12th gen MSI Z690. They've updated BIOS, drivers, and everything else. Anything you mention is fixed, except changing Secure Boot from off to on. That caused Windows 10 activation issues and then it resolved. They're using 552.22 Nvidia drivers. Recently, they reactivated Windows with no changes and the same problems returned. It doesn't make much sense that this would trigger crashes. The main issues seem to be shader compilation, and it doesn't happen with Vulkan. But any game involving DX-related runtime shaders causes crashes, as seen in Fortnite and CS2. We tried this with those games and removed the preloaded shaders on Steam, but Fortnite still crashed multiple times.
Did you reposition the hardware components, such as RAM and GPU? Have you attempted to reinstall Windows from scratch? (If not, verify you obtained the update directly from the Microsoft website—I previously downloaded a copy from an unreliable source, which led to my PC shutting down unexpectedly.)
