I’ve been experiencing this problem for roughly a month and a half since setting up my PC in February of last year. When it’s operating normally, everything works well. But shutting it down or putting it to sleep often prevents the system from booting unless I disconnect it from the wall and reconnect it (or toggle the surge protector switch). This is frustrating because I prefer using my PC remotely, and leaving it on continuously consumes unnecessary power.

Here’s what I’ve assembled: Ryzen 5950X CPU, RTX 3090 FE GPU, 128GB RAM, 3600mhz PCIe 4.0 graphics card, Patriot RAM, Asus WS ACE x570 motherboard, Mobo 2TB drive, Samsung 980 Pro SSD, NHD-15 air cooler, Be Quiet! case (6 fans), and a Pure Base 500 case.

What I’ve observed so far:
1) It isn’t my surge protector; I’ve tested it with and without it.
2) I suspected brownouts during sleep might be the issue, but the problem persists even when I leave it on.
3) The sleep LED turns off in the morning, and no boot occurs unless I force a shutdown.
4) All power connections appear solid—plugs are wired correctly, case switch works, and power button responds.
5) CMOS and BIOS reset didn’t help.
6) When the PC is in this unresponsive state, connected devices like Ethernet lights and idle USB lights remain powered.
7) Even when I press the power button, mouse clicks, or send a Wake On LAN signal don’t wake it. Only a full power cycle resolves the issue.
8) A red light on the Asus motherboard lights up during power drops and right after restarting.

I’m unsure what’s causing it—could be a PSU fault or a motherboard malfunction, but I need more testing.

Likely defective power supply unit. It falls under warranty. Wouldn't it be simpler to replace it?

You're correct, and I understand that's one possibility. I'm worried about having to wait for a return message before realizing it's not the PSU I expected.

Order an extra power supply from Amazon while waiting, collect your refund, send the PSU back to Amazon. Issue resolved.
