PC Freezing on idle
PC Freezing on idle
Hi, I experienced a similar issue before and it was fixed by replacing the SSD. Still, I wasn’t sure what caused it. My PC would freeze even when idle and required a hard reset to function. There were also sudden extreme lag spikes during games and disconnections of inputs like my microphone. The problem returned recently.
I downloaded the game Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War from the battle.net app, and the in-game freezing and input issues came back right after. After a short break, the freezing happened again. Even after removing the game and battle net software, the problem remained. I also recall that around the same time as my previous PC setup, I started playing Black Ops Cold War, which might be linked to the crashes and freezes. I’m not sure what to do next.
I removed battle net and the game from my computer, wondering if a driver or related software could be the cause. The last time this was such a problem, the new C drive installation was the only solution.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this would be appreciated. Please feel free to ask questions or refer back to my old thread with all the troubleshooting steps.
Thank you.

Hi, I’m facing the same issue with my new PC. About four months ago, it freezes unexpectedly when idle. It works fine during gameplay but freezes when Chrome is open and I leave the computer briefly, requiring a forced restart. I ran a disk check using the CrystalDisk app and found 196 pending sectors on my HDD drive. I’m curious if this could be related to the freezing problem. Additionally, I encounter errors in the loading screen of games like Genshin Impact, where the program appears to stop working. This happens with other titles as well.
Yeah, I'm facing the same issue. The new PC I bought in April freezes when unused. I've played around 100 hours of games without any freezing, but once it's idle it does. I sent it back to Scan Computers, but they couldn't even recreate it after 48 hours of idling. Now it freezes about three-quarters of the time. My monitor might be the problem, but that wouldn't cause the system to freeze, would it?
fortunately my pc no longer freezes, though i'm uncertain about the solution. i ran the check disk in cmd and removed some programs i thought could be the problem, as i installed them. however, i still encounter errors in games often, which means the issue might lie with the drive.
