PC freezing during startup appears on the boot screen.
Hi,
I own a Lenovo pre-built system that has stopped functioning. It began with various BSOD messages before progressing to a blank blue screen without any text. I tried resetting the CMOS and even replacing it, re-seating the RAM, changing the power connections on the motherboard, removing and reconnecting the WiFi card, and booting without any devices. None of these steps resolved the issue. I also replaced my SSD, created a Windows installation media on a USB drive, but now the system freezes when launching Windows. I can access the BIOS normally and it works perfectly there.
It seems the GPU is functioning correctly, so I’m unsure why the CPU or motherboard might be the problem. This is quite puzzling, and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I own a Lenovo pre-built unit that has stopped functioning. Lenovo offers several models in their range; could you please share the SKU of the prebuilt unit you're referring to? I also need to know how long the unit has been in use, specifically regarding the age of the power supply unit within it.
Where did you obtain the operating system installer? Would it be helpful if you could provide a donor platform—another motherboard with compatible BIOS version—so I can test your processor on it? I’d also like to try installing the OS on a small-capacity SSD there and see if the same problem occurs.
The chipset manages the SATA data ports, so my assumption is that either your board or its BIOS might be outdated or incompatible.
Hi, the device is a Legion T5-26AMR5 (Type 90RC). The installer came directly from Microsoft on a USB drive, which I’ve used before without any problems. I don’t have a donor motherboard, but since a new SSD didn’t fix the problem and nothing else seems to be broken, it looks like the motherboard might be the issue. It seems like replacing the motherboard would be the only solution.
Can I possibly find a budget-friendly M.2 storage device? Maybe you could attempt using it in one of your existing M.2 ports?
It seems the best option might be to swap out the motherboard.
Fixing issues isn't just about spending cash, purchasing new components, or simply guessing which part caused the problem. You should follow a list of checks and ideally save money by sourcing parts from someone nearby.
The PC previously had an M.2 drive, so I bought a SATA SSD just in case that was the problem. I replaced the motherboard and the issue still continues. I have access to the BIOS without issues, and all components are recognized there. Temperatures are normal, I disabled settings like Secure Boot, Fast Boot, TPM, and overclocking, but nothing changed. I put the M.2 drive back in and reset it via the BIOS, which didn’t help either. The USB drive with Windows installation media works on another PC, so that’s not the problem. I’m struggling to figure out what might be causing this issue. I’ve tried everything I know in the BIOS, but the only parts that could still be problematic are the CPU or power supply unit, even though the BIOS loads completely fine.
I attempted to start using a Live-USB with Linux, noticing the CPU was hanging in the same way as with Windows. I also tried upgrading the BIOS on the new motherboard without any changes.
