rig: I’m upgrading to an RTX 3060 Ti with a Ryzen 5 1600. I have 16GB DDR4 at 3200MHz, a 1TB M.2 SSD, and a B450 Tomahawk Max. I also added a 512GB M.2 SSD. After a recent BIOS update, the system freezes for 20-30 seconds before logging in. Windows troubleshooting didn’t help, so I’m unsure what’s causing it. Any tips on resolving this?

I’d begin by resetting the BIOS first, then check if that resolves the problem. This seems like a strange issue to figure out, but it might be worth clearing everything. It definitely looks like a bios-related problem. Have you ever adjusted startup speed or boot orders before?

I only made the necessary changes and enabled XMP. That’s it.

Have you checked the standard options? The issue might involve several factors, so you need to narrow them down step by step. If the problem persists in the same unusual manner at the start, it likely isn’t related to the BIOS.

You're on an MSI motherboard, but you're unsure about resetting settings to their default state. Start by checking your motherboard manual or manufacturer's website for instructions. If unsure, gently power down the system, unplug it, and wait a few minutes before turning it back on. Always follow safe procedures to avoid damage.

Do you understand how to access the BIOS? There’s typically a "Save and Exit" option where you can restore the default configurations or whatever is set on your device. You might also consult the manual—it should mention this location. Additionally, there are two contacts on your board you can short to reset the CMOS, which will revert all settings back to defaults.
