The PC was cleaned, cables reconnected, but it still won’t boot. It briefly powered on for half a second before shutting off. Previously it worked fine a few minutes ago. The PSU is now humming when plugged in, and there’s warranty coverage for all parts. Update: It flickered on for a moment right now.

Are you sure your RAM is firmly installed? I experienced the same problem once my RAM shifted slightly, causing the computer to boot for just a few seconds without any visual output.

Check all connections on your motherboard to make sure they’re secure. If your front IO connectors are missing or loose, there could be a problem.

I've already switched to another PSE, but it still won't start.

I feel like a desk electrician, yet I suspect your power supply unit might be faulty. Since it won’t start up, something clearly went wrong. It’d be wise to verify your motherboard connections again.
