Windows 11 Pro - 23H2 boots normally and most functions work. Hard drives and SSDs appear operational. It seems the issue might be limited to a few applications and files. Chrome is an example—it launches, stays white, then closes. Uninstalling and reinstalling didn’t resolve it.
For troubleshooting, I ran CHKDSK several times, applied SFC and DISM. CHKDSK completed without problems, but both SFC and DISM failed. SFC reported "Windows System Protection Could Not Perform the Requested Operation." DISM reached around 50% before failing.
I’m unsure what to do next. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Update: The event viewer shows numerous errors. The server {4EB300E9-4F8A-5D14-B795-36796C40660C} didn’t register with DCOM within the expected time. A service called GoogleUpdaterInternalService 128.0.6537.0 repeatedly stopped responding to service control requests. There’s also a device issue: \Device\Harddisk2\DR2 has a bad block. An IO operation at logical address 0x59aec68 for Disk 2 (PDO name: \Device\00000045) was retried.
Sorry, the backup program failed and the PC became increasingly unstable. Fortunately, after several hours I managed to recover the necessary files and completed the backup. I was also able to reinstall Windows. Everything is now functioning properly again. Thank you.
