PC fails when gaming runs heavy but stays stable during rendering or stress testing.
I recently assembled a new PC around two months ago. It functions properly until recently when playing Schedule 1, CS2 and Apex Legends after finishing work. The machine suddenly shuts down to a black screen with no BSOD, only fans and GPU fans spinning. After switching off the PSU for five minutes, it restarts without issues. When trying to launch games, they run smoothly for about 30 to 45 minutes before restarting again. I performed a full power cycle, reconnected all cables, swapped the RAM in the slots, and even tried using the iGPU, but the issue remains. The specifications are listed below. Components: CPU – AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GPU – Sapphire Pure RX 7800 XT, PSU – FSP Vita GM 850W, RAM – Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 16GBx2 (CMK32GX5M2B6000Z30), Motherboard – Asrock B850 Steel Legend WiFi (latest BIOS), Storage – TeamGroup MP44L PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1TB drive, Game Drive – WD Black SN850X PCIe 4.0 NVMe 2TB, Case – HYTE Y70 Tower.
Open the Event Viewer, review its contents, and confirm your GPU drivers are current.
It should work for testing power-related problems, but ensure it matches the 650W rating.
I can display the perfmon /rel screenshots immediately if it helps identify the problem.
I've already tested the spare PSU, but the issue remains. I've also used the original cables and managed to get some progress, though the PC still didn't shut down completely and returned to desktop during gameplay. Thanks for your quick reply!
I’m almost finished thinking about it. Right now I think the power supply might be faulty or the custom cables could be defective. Could you share your PC specifications?
