I recently installed a 2TB Crucial P3 and now my PC won’t post. When I remove it, it boots and works perfectly. I’ve tried all adjustments, like changing the PCIe settings to 4x4x instead of 16x, but nothing helps. On the motherboard, the EZDebug LED for "VGA" is lit, suggesting the issue might be with my GPU or PCIe configuration. I plan to update the BIOS, though I doubt that will fix it. Could any of these PCIe settings have overlooked something that blocks the GPU and NVMe SSD? Here’s my setup: CPU – Ryzen 7 2700; MBO – MSI B450M AZ 2022; RAM – 4×4GB DDR4 @ 2667MHz; GPU – XFX Rx5700XT RAW II; PSU – Silverstone 750W; Cooling – 280mm; M.2 SSD – Curcial P3 2TB; SATA SSD – Curcial BS500 240GB; HDD – WD Blue 6TB.

Verify which SATA connections your motherboard shuts down if you use an M.2 port. This could explain the problem. If not, there’s likely no reason for a boot failure with a new M.2 slot.

However, at least the bios would show up, wouldn't it? It's really tough to access the bios when the M2 SSD is installed.

Looking for information on PCIe bifurcation changes? It refers to modifications in the PCIe standard over time, such as version updates or protocol adjustments.

I searched for that information but had no success. After reading the manual, it seems the M.2 slot works only with an integrated graphics card.

It indicates compatibility with PCIe 3.0 x4 (including Ryzen 7 2700 and later). Likely the limitation is related to PCIe lanes. Your motherboard doesn't appear to support PCIe x4 in the x16 slot without an Athlon APU, which could be the problem.

You didn't phrase it clearly—just noted the mention of @Crunchy Dragon. I picked that up when you shared. I also realized the importance of understanding PCIe generations.

He's right about it. The BIOS update resolved the issue. /shrug
