PC fails to start with DRAM diagnostic indicator illuminated?
Hi, here are the issues I’m facing with my motherboard. Initially, it worked perfectly after installation, but once I turned on XMP, it stopped functioning properly. The system displays the CPU debug light, then moves to DRAM, loops back to CPU, and finally stays stuck on DRAM. After updating the BIOS, the problem persists. ChatGPT suggests a major memory configuration issue might be the cause. I’ve reset the CMOS multiple times and tested various RAM configurations, but it still doesn’t boot. The motherboard has Gigabyte Aorus B650 Elite AX rev 1.2, a Ryzen 7600X, RTX 3080 GPU, 16GB of Trident Z DDR5 RAM, 1TB storage, and a 750-watt bequiet PSU.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Ryzen 7600x
What cooling solution are you using?
Purepower 750 watt
Be Quiet! there are several units in the Pure Power range—what model do you have?
+
Rtx 3080
If I were you, I’d consider a more powerful unit because the RTX3080 experiences significant transient load spikes. A unit around 1KW would be ideal. No, I’m not joking.
What BIOS version is your motherboard running? You didn’t mention the RAM you’re using on your build.
And I’ve cleared the CMOS multiple times.
For best results, disconnect from the wall and display, remove the CMOS battery, hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge any remaining power, then reinstall the battery after about 30 minutes.
Please keep your discussion focused in one thread.
Edit;
Trident z ddr5 16gb x2
You may want to add a link to the RAM kit you’re using. If the RAM doesn’t list AMD’s E.X.P.O on its packaging, that could be the problem. Try borrowing or sourcing a kit with the advertised E.X.P.O to check if it fixes the issue. Speaking of which, ideally you should fill slots A2 and B2.
Hi, thank you for your response. Let me go through your questions one by one. I'm cooling the CPU using a Corsair 240 mm AIO. I'm not sure what you meant by unit, product unit or watt units under load—could you clarify? Right now, I have the 3080 disconnected to simplify things. I'm running BIOS fb4 on my Aorus B650 Elite Rev 1.2 motherboard and using Trident Z DDR5 RAM. It's a 32GB kit with two 16GB modules. The transfer speed is rated for 6000 MT/s. After clearing CMOS, I waited 5 minutes with the battery off and unplugged.
