I'm still getting familiar with assembling PCs, so when troubleshooting is just a quick search online, I'm really unsure what to do now. My brother's system we built about two months ago stopped functioning. It worked fine until today, when his fans started spinning up extremely fast and then stopped. Here are the details: Motherboard – ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-F, CPU – AMD Ryzen 9 7900X, RAM – G-Skill 64GB (2x32GB), DDR5-6000, Video – MSI RTX 4070 Ti, Cooler – Lian Li GA II, PSU – ASUS TUF 850W 80+ Gold ATX Full Modular. It seems everything should be in order, but I want your input if I missed anything important.

With the fans acting up first, it's likely the CPU overheated. I didn't realize anything had changed in his setup since it worked well for two months. I checked the post lights – they were a solid yellow, suggesting a possible DRAM issue, so I tried reseating them. Eventually it stopped booting and showed a CPU over-temperature warning. I attempted a BIOS flashback, which got it to boot once, but it still displayed the over-temperature screen. I tried reseating again, but it wouldn't boot or post. I'm worried about the CPU or cooler after everything got mixed up, and now I think it's time to take it to a repair shop. No idea if any part is definitely faulty, but I'm hoping you can help me figure this out.

TL;DR: The brother's PC wouldn't start or display properly after the fans spiked. I suspect CPU overheating, possibly due to cooler issues. I've tried reseating the CPU and other fixes, but it's stuck. I'm planning to bring it in for a professional check.

It's clear, but you might have missed installing the air pump. Make sure the mounting pressure is correct, reattach it and adjust the Aio block—see if that makes a difference. Also, check if you left the plastic cover on or forgot to apply thermal paste.

It seems the AIO pump plug might have been unplugged, so I'll verify that. I'll also re-seat the CPU just to be safe. The plastic was removed, which shouldn't cause issues. If the CPU overheated and fans increased to cool the liquid, the pump plug disconnection could have been the cause. I'll check again tomorrow to confirm.

The AIO header wasn’t taken out, so perhaps a replacement cooler is required. I’ll install a new one and see if the issue was with the old one. If not, what might be causing the problem?

Purchased and set up a new cooler, the Noctua NH-D15S. Everything is functioning now. Probably just a defective AIO, so nothing too serious.
