Motherboard: MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D I attempted to update the BIOS using the flash bios button with three different USB drives, but nothing happened. I also tried BIOS versions 7C56v1I, 7C56v1H, and 7C56v1F. When flashing, the red LED lights up indicating progress, then the PC powers off briefly for about a second before restarting, yet it still doesn’t POST. During this process, the CPU debug LED stays on. I tried using RAM in separate A2 and B2 slots, but everything remains unresponsive. All power connectors are properly connected.
The USB gets set up using Fat32 format with an MBR partition layout similar to what online tutorials recommend
BIOS flash can be tricky and needs precise settings to function properly. Using a USB drive formatted with FAT32 can help, but it didn’t seem to work. Have you changed the BIOS file name to match what’s listed in the manual? Also, confirm there’s just one file on the USB and it’s placed in the root directory. Just a note, only one USB port supports the BIOS Flashback feature. Make sure you use that specific port. If your drive is 8GB or less, it might perform better. A USB 2.0 device could also improve compatibility. Good luck!
Changed the BIOS file to MSI.ROM according to the instructions. I used two 64GB drives and just recently tried a 2GB drive all formatted with FAT32 and MBR style. At least one of the 64GB units is version 3.0, though I’m not sure about the others. The smaller 2GB drive seems quite old, so I think it’s version 2.0.
