You might be dealing with a faulty motherboard. Initially, I managed to run Windows from a DVD or USB, but then it wouldn’t boot to the hard drive in BIOS. When I returned it for replacement, MSI replied that this was an unusual issue—some drives would install but not boot. They mentioned it was the strangest case they’d encountered. Fortunately, I had another machine available for swapping components, and the only remaining part was the motherboard.
It seems the system started working without any issues, but you noticed problems after changing BIOS settings. This could point to a software-related issue, though it might also involve hardware factors. You're right to be curious—getting the behavior inconsistent after adjustments often hints at configuration changes.
My mother board got damaged by a power surge, but I have also seen this straight from the factory right out of the box. As in bios appears to work normally, but then screws up in weird ways when you boot. See me being able to boot from USB or CD / DVD but not HDD, SDD, or M.2 and that was a motherboard fault. EDIT - Also there is fun little thing about Legacy vs. UEFI boot. I have also shot myself hard in the foot when I installed windows under Legacy from a DVD, but Win 10 and up need UEFI to load into. So if you have BIOS set to legacy when you install the OS, it won't boot and when you set the correct UEFI....no OS found. To get around this I have used Pixie boot or USB.
