The PC was functioning properly, it was an older model with no recent changes, so I chose to restart it.
However, the restart process took a long time—about five minutes.
I then pressed the power button to force a reset.
After that, the PC would click when the power button was pressed but still wouldn’t turn on.
I went through the checklist thoroughly:
- replaced CMOS battery
- checked all cables
- tried with and without the GPU
None of these worked.
I’m planning to use a different PSU next time.
If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
CPU: I7 4790k
CPU cooler: intel e97378-001
Motherboard: Gigabyte gaming 3
RAM: x2 8GB Corsair
Storage: samsung 1TB SSD
GPU: Msi gtx 3090 Ti
Power supply: Be Quiet Power 11 1000W
Case: NZXT S340 ATX
Operating system: Windows
Monitor: not available – HDMI to TV connection
BIOS version: uncertain, but I recall updating it a year ago.
I purchased the PSU and graphics card in late 2022, which is about three years ago.

Later, the PC responds when the power button is pressed but fails to turn on completely.
It seems there might be a minor issue in your system. Consider borrowing another PSU and testing without the discrete GPU. It could also be that your motherboard has failed. You might need a donor board from a friend or neighbor to check if the rest of your components are okay.

Motherboard: Gigabyte gaming 3
Is this the model you're using?
GPU: msi gtx 3090 ti
The RTX 3000 series was known for its high transient load spikes. Users were recommended to overprovision their power supply when selecting a PSU, in addition to choosing a well-built unit. It was also suggested that those with an RTX 3090 consider a 1.2KW to 1.5KW reliably built power supply. Additionally, this GPU was bought used?

PSU: Be Quiet Power 11 1000w
Is this the power supply you have?

It’s the motherboard that’s the issue
The PSU is quiet and delivering 11-1000W power
I still have my previous PSU, so I’ll attempt a replacement and disable the GPU.
However, I’m convinced there’s a problem somewhere, even though everything seemed normal just hours before.
This whole situation is really confusing because nothing major happened to trigger it.
