Yesterday my brother shared that his PC stopped working and wouldn't boot. He mentioned it ran smoothly until it suddenly shut down. When he restarted, the system went straight into BIOS instead of Windows, and he exited without saving. The machine never started after that. There was no power surge, and other devices and outlets worked fine. Now, when attempting to boot, the fans spin briefly before stopping, looping continuously. This PC isn't a gaming unit; it's built for office tasks, so it lacks a dedicated GPU and uses a standard cooler. Specifications include an Intel Core i3 10100 with stock cooler, ADATA XPG 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, MSI Z490 motherboard, EVGA GD 500 PSU, WD SN570 NVME SSD. I've tried several fixes: swapping power cords, checking for damaged components, testing different outlets, removing and reinserting RAM, using another PC's RAM, disconnecting and reconnecting power cables, replacing the CMOS, and even swapping the CPU with a newer model. Still, I'm unsure what caused it or how to resolve the issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Z490 MSI boards often experience issues during BIOS updates or may fail to arrive. The problem seems to lie with the board itself.

The computer has been operating smoothly for roughly a month. It has only performed Windows updates (Windows 10) during that time. I don’t think there was any BIOS flashing or an update to the BIOS.
