pc fails to power up despite having two RAM modules installed

my pc runs smoothly with one stick of ram, but it shuts down right away when two are used. i own a ryzen 7 2700x with corsair vengeance rgb pro (2 x 8gb) ddr4-3200, an msi 1660, asus b450-f motherboard, and an 850w evga bronze power supply. the cards work separately but fail together on dual channels 2 and 4. i've tried xmp mode and voltage changes, but nothing helps. please advise what to do next.

Remember it functioned flawlessly when I first created it, but it has stopped working roughly a month or two ago.

Zen+ uses Ryzen 2000 series CPUs that are quite sensitive to RAM settings. I experienced instability in RAM configurations several months after using them at high speeds, so I had to lower the RAM speeds for stability. It's also typical for these processors to perform differently with a single stick versus two sticks, meaning your RAM might be overclocked and need reduced speeds.

Have you tested each stick individually, not just using one at a time? They function properly on their own in every slot. It seems either one of your sticks is faulty or there’s an issue with one of the slots on the motherboard.

I attempted it with a single stick in slot 4, but it seems I encountered an issue with slot 4. Can I still utilize two RAM sticks without using slot 1?

If slot 1 or 4 isn't usable, you can place them in slots 2 and 3 but they'll operate in single channel. The only way to achieve full performance and proper functioning is to swap out the motherboard if a faulty slot exists.
