PC fails to power on post-installation. Possible GPU issue detected.
I'm just starting out building a PC, and the specifications are as follows:
Gigabyte A520M S2H
AMD Ryzen 5 5600x
Gigabyte RX 6600 Eagle
Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GBx2 3200MHz
MSI Mag A550 BN PSU
Kingstom NV2 NVMe 1 TB
My concern is that the GPU might be the issue. When I installed the CPU, cooler, GPU, RAM, and SSD, I attempted to boot the system but nothing happened. I've heard that this motherboard may require a BIOS update to support the Ryzen 5600X. I updated the BIOS via USB, and once it finished, the PSU and CPU fans started working. It looked like the PC managed to boot, though the GPU fans didn't spin. I felt some heat near the GPU, but I should mention it seems to sit loosely and might be unstable.
I've tried re-seating the GPU, reconnecting it from the PSU, and even tightening it firmly to ensure proper placement. Then I changed the RAM slots, using only one slot per slot. Still, nothing is working. I'm trying to turn it on with a screwdriver and then the case, but I'm really frustrated and almost giving up.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Make sure the BIOS has been updated to the latest version, then clear the CMOS. Unplug the device from the power source and display it. Remove the CMOS battery, hold the power button for 30 seconds, then replace the battery after a short time.
I want to mention that the GPU seems to be loosely seated and may move slightly. Could this be an issue?
This situation shouldn't occur; the GPU should be firmly placed in the PCIe x16 slot.
It might help to breadboard the internal components. If it functions properly, you likely have a short circuit.
