Pc fails to power on even though the case fans are connected.
I was assembling my first computer and everything was installed, then turned it on. It worked except the case fans weren’t turning on—they’re connected to the PSU. So I connected the 3-pin case fan connector to the motherboard’s fan controller, but now the PC won’t start. I unplugged all components and it still won’t turn on. Did I damage the motherboard? I didn’t notice any smoke or static.
Would it be better to estimate the hardware type or provide detailed model numbers for the build?
Did you disconnect the cable that was attempting to restart the PC? I'm sure it's just a matter of verifying the connection.
I have turned off all devices and restarted, but the issue persists without using the 3-pin connector.
Based on my recent encounter with a Deepcool project, they often reference having fans, though they prefer not to specify the details. It seems these might be Molex connector fans with an RGB connection. If you link an RGB connector to a fan header, it could lead to problems. Connecting them this way might not be advisable.
This question seeks clarification on whether the damage was to the motherboard, power supply unit, or the fan.
