Hey everyone, I'm really struggling here and could use some guidance. I just set up this account to ask a question, but things went wrong. My computer was working perfectly—Discord, Firefox, and Steam were running smoothly. I took a short break, came back, and sat on the BIOS screen. After a few tries, I ended up back in BIOS again. When I checked my drives, they appeared in Storage Devices, but none showed up in Boot Priority. I tried connecting everything properly, resetting CMOS, swapping RAM, and even toggling Secure Boot. The system would show devices in Boot Priority but still say "no operating system found." After several attempts, I had to reinstall Windows completely, which then told me my PC didn’t meet the requirements. Now I’m stuck again—my drives are visible in BIOS, but I can’t boot. My specs are listed, and I’ve tried everything. Any advice would be a huge help.
Likely needs to adjust the EFI partition layout. This has happened many times during random issues or clones, as it often disrupts the EFI section even after proper cloning. Moving or recreating the EFI partition – Windows 10 Forums (tenforums.com) Just remember this detail in your process: the volume letter isn't always C: since you aren't booted into the main OS recovery area, the drive letter could differ.
Thanks for the update. It looks like the issue is still unresolved. I checked the link you provided and applied the new partition to bypass BIOS, but I encountered a Blue Screen with the message "Stop code: REGISTRY ERROR." After restarting, another screen appeared—File: \BCD Error Code: 0xc0000098—and it suggested using a recovery tool. I revisited the USB and tried the tool again, but it didn’t work.
Just set up this account to share what I found today. It was actually a problem when backing up files to an external HDD, and Windows showed an error saying “please wait while we try to fix your files,” after which the PC booted straight into BIOS. My system details are: OS Windows 10, ROG CROSSHAIR VIII Dark Hero BIOS v4805 (updated post-issue), AMD Ryzen 9 5950x, G Skill 3600mhz, 2x16GB DDR4 RAM, 4090 NVMe SSD, 2TB M.2 drive. Could be related to a Windows update? I’ve tried everything you suggested. Any chance of resolution?
Hi there, your specs remind me of something familiar. Since I’m still using Windows 10 instead of the new Windows 11, I’ve been trying various fixes without success. I’ve even swapped drives to see if that helps, but everything checks out. I’m reaching out to ASUS support, but it’s moving slowly—just one email a day and they’re stuck in script mode. I’ll update you if anything changes.
Do you know how to disable Secure Boot in your BIOS? I saw it’s enabled on my machine, but nothing seems to turn it off. It might be connected to the issue.
